Hall and Parker lawsuits
As a result of the Arizona Supreme Court opinion in Hall v. EORP, contribution rates for EORP and PSPRS members hired prior to July 20, 2011, are being lowered and PSPRS is preparing to manage the return of some employee contributions.
In 2016, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 1428, which creates new benefit provisions for Tier 2 PSPRS members (not CORP or EORP) hired between January 1, 2012, and June 30, 2017, and for Tier 3 members who will be hired on or after July 1, 2017.
Newly appointed or elected officials may be required to participate in the Defined Contribution plan (EODCRS).
