PSPRS pension reform video released
Agency to also host upcoming reform education sessions for boards, employers

ARIZONA – PSPRS released its first educational video to illustrate pension reforms that become effective July 1, 2017, and to outline events and circumstances that prompted legislative reform efforts.

The video is the first of several that are intended to reach public safety employees, employers, and local boards, and to simplify detailed information regarding the new employee tier (Tier 3) and the benefits available to these employees who will be hired on or after July 1, 2017.

“We’re pleased to add video to our campaign to help employers, local boards and our members understand and prepare for the changes ahead,” PSPRS Administrator Jared Smout said. “We’re grateful to have these cost-saving reforms and for the opportunity to reach out to everyone who has a role in supporting the retirement of Arizona’s first responders.”PSPRS is also hosting local boards and employer training sessions in March and April, including:

Southern Arizona: March 30 – Pima Community College (Amethyst Room), 1255 N. Stone Ave., Tucson (10 am – noon)

Northern Arizona: April 6 – Flagstaff Council Chambers, 211 W. Aspen, Flagstaff (10 am - noon)

Maricopa County: April 13 – PSPRS office, 3010 E. Camelback Rd., Suite 200, Phoenix (9 – 11 am) (1 to 3 pm, webinar available)

Please contact PSPRS Local Boards Outreach Coordinator Don Mineer at [email protected] or 602-296-2543 to register to attend any of these events. Webinar services are only available for the April 13 afternoon meeting.
