Retirees
of the Arizona State Retirement System, Public Safety Personnel Retirement

System, or a retirement plan set up by a Community College District or the
Arizona Board of Regents are eligible for health insurance coverage through the
Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System if they are not covered by the
insurance plan for state employees.

omnibus with a conditional enactment clause. Provides for numerous
changes in the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) and Elected
Officials Retirement System (EORP) including expanded definitions used by the
pension plan; increased powers and duties of the Fund Manager regarding court
appearances and proceedings; statutory changes to the language addressing
survivor pensions, and penalties and recovery options for member criminal
wrongdoing. �Bill contains multiple
changes in plan definition sections. �New
language is included requiring the State Attorney General to obtain the Fund Manager�s
written consent on claims settlements.

Changes in
definitions and procedures for Public Safety Personnel Retirement System
(PSPRS), Corrections Officer Retirement Plan (CORP), and Elected Officials
Retirement Plan (EORP) participants to obtain an approved Domestic Relations
Orders and payments.� Establishes a
90-day �cure period� for participants and Alternate Payees to submit an Amended
Domestic Relations Order for review and qualification determination and
provides new procedures for responding to court Domestic Relations Orders.

INSURANCE; FIREFIGHTERS; PEACE OFFICERS
Retroactive to
June 30, 2007, the firefighter�s cancer insurance policy program administered
by the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System is expanded to include peace
officers. Employers of peace officers must participate in the program and
pay the associated costs, up to $180 annually for each employee.

Full-time dispatchers whose employer enters into a joinder
agreement for membership in the Correctional Officers Retirement Plan may
transfer their credited service from another state retirement plan to CORP if
the dispatcher is employed on the date of the joinder agreement and their
employer agrees.
